I've had the chance to see Rafal play for Xanthi in a match against Olympiakos last autumn, and although they lost, this guy was the player I liked most from the entire team.
He was the only player who, you could tell, actually managed to get the best of his direct opponents and create a few chances for the team against a pretty solid and organised defense of Olympiacos. I could make out great ambition and attitude in this player, which I like.
He didn't really win many balls in the defence, I guess he is more of an attacking left wing, but he did help the defence by running back and marking men a lot. After all, who cares if he also plays good defence when the lad does good out front?
Like I said I had a really good impression about the lad back then and I was more than surprised to read the transfer news today. From my point of view, this was a good move, probably even better than the management expects it to be. One way or the other, I am confident that the fans will really like this player, as much and as fast as I did.
Maybe it would be interesting for us, the Steaua fans, to know what you think about Rafal, as well as Pawel Golanski, also a Steaua player. How are they considered as players in Poland????
Greetings from a Steaua fan exiled in Western europe.
